Fine Motor Activities
Here are a few simple fine motor activities which will provide hours of fun for your little ones.
Sensory bottles are a great way to engage your baby and you can customise them to your liking. Add items such as pom-poms, googly eyes, foam shapes or glitter to water.
Rainbow shakers – children have a natural inclination towards music, so let them create their own tunes with these colourful shakers – add coloured rice/pasta or colourful paper clips to the bottle. Make a hole in the lid, Place colourful ribbon through the hole and tie a knot on the inside of the lid before putting the lid back on. For very young babies, try black and white shakers.
Cardboard boxes – pop holes in boxes and use laces, ribbons or pipe cleaners to feed through the holes (leaving a good length before knotting at both ends)
Spider web discovery basket
Who knew that a laundry basket could be so much fun! Tie soft string to and fro through the basket until you create a web effect. Place your babies favourite toys inside and let them rescue them
Colander thrust
Provide your baby with pipe cleaners in different colours to insert into holes of the colander
