Staying hydrated

Staying hydrated throughout the day is especially important for young children, as they have higher fluid requirements in relation to their size than adults and are less tolerant of heat. Therefore, it is important to make sure children drink frequently throughout the day to help prevent dehydration.

Typically 6-8 drinks (around 100-120 ml) per day with meals and snacks should be offered and more drinks may be needed in very hot weather and/or after physical play or activities
